good but flawed design
quality bag, but the way the zipper is makes the bag hard to access and back, i'll sell mine for cheap if anyone is looking.
GOOD BUT NOT GREAT
I bought this bag specifically for the fact that it holds two boards with fins. It does Not. I have a 6ʻ 6ʻʻ bag and thereʻs no way two 5ʻ 10ʻʻ standard shortboards are fitting inside with fins. I can easily fit in 2 boards, but not with fins. I can fit in 1 board with fins and the other without but thatʻs the bagʻs full capacity. The build quality is good and I like the reflective material on the bottom. Itʻs very durable and not that thin type thatʻll flake off over time. This will last. I just wish this bag did what itʻs supposed to and hold two boards with fins.
Great quality bag!
I recently bought and travelled with the 7'6" Recon Double surfboard bag. My only complaint is that there is no way I would have been able to fit two 7'6" boards. We were able to just barely squeeze in my 7'6" and a 6'6''. Neither of the boards were damaged during travel.
Solid and Tight
Have yet to travel with it but as it just arrived and Dakine prompted for a review, here's my first take. Loaded two Lost/Libtech 6' into the 6'6" bag. Enough room fore and aft for some additional tip and tail cushioning, but girth and zipping up? Tight but SOLID. Will aim to lay my yoga mat on the bottom and a neoprene layer on the top and *maybe* one in-between just to keep things right. Rockered boards mean nose up and with the tight fit, I'll likely pack something around the top board nose to prevent any undue stress to the tip. But overall the bag feels very solid and well made - excellent feature set - nice expansion on the tail end - and a fin key lock inside. It's done right. Just zipped my two portly Lib/Lost boards into the bag and will let the material settle for the next couple days. I like what see and feel so far!!
2 boards is Tight
It's a pretty tight fit with 2 boards... especially if you're wrapping them in towels for extra protection for airline travel. I wish there was just a little more room for board #2. Otherwise, super durable and did great. Really like the removable strap.

Poor design
Sides need to collapse and have same depth all the way around the whole bag. Not just one side of bag. My 2 three inch thick boards could not fit. If the one side wasn’t seamed it would’ve.
Nice bag!
Seems solidly made.

will the 7'0 fit a 7'0 board or it will be too tight? would love to throw extra padding in there
I ride mostly 6'0" boards and decided to opt for the 6'6" given some comments the fit was "tight". What dimension I'm seeking is "depth", or "stacked height". I've got length and width, but what's the fabric capacity "height" wise?? Thanks.
Does this have sufficient padding to take on a plane
Absolutely! The Recon Double is constructed with 3/8 (10MM) Closed cell foam. Now, I always advise to wrap the rails in foam for additional protection during air travel.
Can it fit a retro fish? Large nose.
Yes, it should. If you can please send the full measurements of the board to store@dakine.com, I should be able to make a better determination.
Does it fit for a funboard 7’-2" or it is exactly 7’?
Without the full dimensions of the fun board, It's difficult for me to provide an answer. Please send an email to store@dakine.com and I can investigate!
I would like to ask I need a your accessory close out products
Hi Wondsen, Please reach out to us directly at store@dakine.com, to further explain your inquiry on this bag. Cheers!
hi there, does it fits 3 boards without the fins? thanks!
This bag calls out 2 board fit. But, that really depends on the shape, width, & volume of the boards
