Short chin strap

Others have mentioned it, but with more feedback, maybe Dakine will add an inch to the chin strap. I have owned 4 of these, and I had one strap that was a good length, and the 3 others were too short by varying degrees - it appears there isn't a set length or a lack of quality control. I've tried other's hats, and Dakine's still is the best overall, but having a relative short chin strap on an L/XL hat is wrong. If you can try them at your local surf shop before you buy would be ideal. One other thing - the hat is super durable except for the elastic band inside the hat. This always is the first to go, and then it falls down and covers your eyes. I've cut them out of some hats to get more wear. Bummer to have an otherwise rock solid hat go in the bin because of this weak link.

Runs Small

This hat runs small. A large does not fit a 58 but a XL will. The chin strap is very short. I think at maximum on the buckle it won't choke me out.

Surf Hat turned adventure hat

Not only is this hat phenomenal for surfing, as it stays in place, sheds water, and won’t obstruct any views, it also doubles as a great adventure hat for sun protection and style!

The Strap is too short

The adjustable strap is too short to make the hat comfortable to wear. This is a design problem. I was disappointed.

Loved the hat!

Great quality, can be use in and off water, covering your neck, adjusting it when needed. Size fits very well.

great coverage, stays on

I wore this on small days - knee-thigh high for a full week in the blazing sun. I I got very little sun on my face and neck, and the thing stayed on even during massive wipeouts! true to all the other reviews though, it runs small. I have a melon and got the xxl size and it still just snugly fits.
